Archive Model Definitions

This document explains the four different folder arrangements used to organise information across the Scole Archive. It acts as a guide to understanding how files are grouped—whether by the exact date of a session, by a general theme, or as a simple alphabetical list—ensuring the entire collection remains consistent and easy to navigate.

This document defines the folder structures used to organise data. Adherence to these models ensures cross-series consistency and navigational clarity.

1. THE SESSION MODEL

- Structure: 464 third-level folders (Session-###-YYYY-MM-DD).

- Application: Primary data captured during specific experimental sittings.

- Series: 02, 03, 04, 06, 07, 08.

2. THE DESCRIPTIVE MODEL

- Structure: Numerically prefixed, descriptive folders (e.g., General-01-...).

- Application: Thematic data not tied to a single session date.

- Note: Series 05-BUL exclusively uses 'Bulletin-##'.

- Series: 01, 05, 11, 12, 13.

3. THE LIBRARY MODEL

- Structure: Flat second-level folder (No third-level subfolders).

- Application: Alphabetical reference profiles to prevent data redundancy.

- Series: 09, 10.

4. THE HYBRID MODEL

- Structure: Combination of Descriptive and Session folders.

- Application: Administrative requirements needing both thematic and chronological filing. Currently utilised in Series 01-ADM.
