A request from the Scole Archive Curators...
Curating and freely sharing a massive digital archive is not actually free
Since 1998, we have given our unconditional support to this project.
A recent ten-fold increase in archival data
However, an estimated ten-fold increase in archival data between 2023 and 2025 means we now regularly dedicate 80 hours a week between us to digitising, indexing, and formatting these records.
We have invested significantly in Scole Archive
In 2026 alone, we have invested over £5,000 from our personal savings to upgrade our computer systems to process this content, alongside further significant expenses for ScoleTV videography equipment, hosting, digital subscriptions, audio-cleaning, travel, and other costs.
Avoiding conditional funding
We do not wish to rely on conditional funding from institutional or private donors.
Free and open access to The Scole Experiment data is very important
We believe the data from The Scole Experiment is too important for outside influence or paywalls, and that it must remain freely accessible for future generations.
If you value open access to Scole Archive, please support is you are able to
If you value this archive and our commitment to open access, and would like to help sustain this work without strings attached, any contribution you can make will be gratefully received and deeply appreciated.
