Session 8.
Monday 13 December 1993.
Due to the further illness of members of the Scole Group, a couple of sittings were missed during November and early December 1993, and yet another was cancelled due to the tiredness of Sandra and I following another NAS residential weekend seminar at Cober Hill, Scarborough, which we had both organised and participated in from 26-28 November.
Despite this, on the few occasions that we did sit, the progress of the group was meteoric! Ongoing trance communications with the few members of the spirit team who were known to us at that time were quickly consolidated, and we came to regard each and every one as a very dear friend - they were almost an extension of our own earthly families.
We had not yet learned that the phenomena we were experiencing were being produced by the spirit world in a brand-new way and were still thinking along the traditional lines of "ectoplasm" as the means by which our results were being achieved. Consequently, we were continuing to observe the traditional habit of placing a séance "trumpet" on our central table during sittings. Although we had been getting major phenomena - by way of apports, etc. - for some time, there had been no more actual levitation of the trumpet for several months, since it had last been levitated on 3 May 1993.
The situation changed dramatically, however, on 13 December 1993.
During that sitting of the Scole Group - with all members present - Manu (the group's main spirit doorkeeper), speaking through Diana, opened the proceedings as per his established regular habit. He was then followed by Patrick and Raji, speaking through Alan.
A string of cowbells which was hanging down from the cellar ceiling, rang above our heads on three occasions. Several spirit lights were seen by sitters throughout the evening. I can only describe these as spectacular, resembling shooting stars and curving downwards from the area of the ceiling at high speed before disappearing. These small, objective spirit lights were not sustained but, on occasions, they were accompanied by sparks and a distinctive crackling noise.
The trumpet gracefully moved off the central table (its movements could be seen in the darkness by virtue of the luminous bands around both its narrow and wide ends) and floated gently up to the ceiling, before circumnavigating the whole room with ease. We were told by the spirit team that its movements were being controlled mentally by two young spirit people. Certainly the complicated manoeuvres it was achieving appeared to be amazingly skilled and not restricted in any way. In all, the trumpet stayed aloft for a full eight minutes, then completed its perambulations by passing through the legs of the entranced Alan's chair and Alan's own legs before being placed accurately - and softly - upright on the table, where it then started to rotate and rattle for a couple of minutes, before coming to rest in exactly the same position it had originally occupied.
The real revelation, however, was yet to come! It was at this sitting that we were told in no uncertain terms that the movements of the trumpet, and other types of phenomena we were experiencing did not involve the use of ectoplasm! The spirit team working with the Scole Group were now using a brand-new method of creating physical phenomena. This was being successfully pioneered through the Scole Group by our spirit team and involved the use of "energy" alone to achieve results.
So it turned out that the change of direction by the Scole home circle involved more than just the conscious decision we had made to leave the running of the Scole Group up to the spirit world. It involved a whole new modus operandi, which would shortly allow us to witness many original and amazing new forms of phenomena that had never been produced or witnessed ever before in any other part of the world.
